Lake Louise Mountain Resort is covered in white again.

Here's everything you need to know for a season of skiing and snowboarding at Lake Louise Mountain Resort.

- What's new: Majority owner Charlie Locke is determined to return Lake Louise Mountain Resort to its glory days. He's doing this by keeping season's pass prices steady while improving on-mountain infrastructure at the picturesque resort about two hours' drive west of Calgary.

The resort bought three new Piston Bully snowcats for about $700,000 this off-season to provide more frequent grooming on its runs. Locke has also partnered with Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and Castle Mountain for this year's Louise Plus Card. For $99, a buyer of the card gets the first two days of skiing at Lake Louise or Kicking Horse for free (but free days cannot be taken at Castle Mountain). Adults can then ski any day of the 2010-11 season at Lake Louise, Kicking Horse Resort or Castle Mountain Resort for $50 per lift ticket. Young skiers between the ages of 13 and 17 and seniors 65 or older can ski for just $40 per day through the rest of the season. The Louise Plus Card also provides deals on accommodation, food and beverage and retail outlets.

Management has moved the Starbucks coffee bar in the Lodge of Ten Peaks at the base area to the interior wall, adding about 30 seats for java lovers. The resort will build a new full-length skier/ boarder-cross course this winter in the base area near the terrain park for both recreation and training. And the drive to Lake Louise should be both safer and faster with the twinning of the TransCanada Highway between Lake Louise and Castle Junction.

- Runs: 139 runs, one terrain park and a skier/ boarder-cross course.

- Lifts: Nine (one eight-person gondola, one six-seat high-speed chair, two high-speed quad chairs, one fixed-grip quad chair, one triple chair, one platter, one T-bar and one Magic Carpet).

- Single-day lift ticket price (plus GST): Adult (18-64) $75.95; senior (65 and older) $54.95; child (6-12) $24.95; and youth (13-17) $54.95.

- Skiable terrain: 1,700 hectares.

- Terrain breakdown: 25 per cent beginner, 16 per cent intermediate, 29 per cent advanced and 30 per cent expert.

- Insider information: Head to the back side and upper elevations of Mount Whitehorn -- the peak that starts at the resort's base -- to find the best snow conditions. Ski the upper mountain circuit on Mount Whitehorn using the Top of the World quad chair, the Summit platter and Paradise triple chair to cover a whack of terrain fast. The resort has four mountain faces that cover every major direction -- so you can follow the sun all day long. When the wind starts to howl, head for the cover of the trees that dot the Ptarmigan and Larch areas. When all that carving gets you hungry, Sawyers Nook restaurant at Temple Lodge is a great lunch spot tucked away on the back side of Mount Whitehorn. Plan to skip the noon-hour rush and you should be able to avoid any lunch lineups.

- Vertical drop: 991 metres.

- Longest run: Five kilometres (top of Summit platter, around the Boomerang Bowl and out Pika, past Temple Lodge and down the ski-out to the base lodge).

- Contact information: 403-522-3555; skilouise.com.
