Trade Penner? He’s the Oilers’ best player! Please not! How about Gagner? Maybe San Jose would trade Couture, drafted after Gagner.

Who’s going to go: Hemsky or Penner? Hemsky has to go.

Keep Penner. He’s a good player and he wants to stay. We are still suffering the ill effects of trading Ryan Smyth and Jarret Stoll — two other good players who wanted to stay. Ryan scored goals; Jarred won faceoffs, played well on the power play and effectively killed penalties. Both were good team members. So is Penner. Do we ever learn?

The sooner Penner is traded, the sooner the talking heads can go back to pretending that Craig MacTavish was a good coach who never had a hand in ruining this organization. Out of sight, out of mind.

If Oilers fans think this team is in a positive rebuild, you are dreaming. The Oilers need to get bigger, tougher, meaner to play in the playoffs. Some of the smaller players get pushed around and intimidated. I see the same pattern here as I have the last five years — going nowhere, with a lot of excuses from the GM.

The Journal laments Krueger’s first venture as Oilers head coach. Sorry, but Moses couldn’t lead this group out of the wilderness!

The current state of the Oilers tells you just how valuable Ryan Whitney really was.

Since Katz bought the Oilers, the team has been in the doldrums. I think it is time to fire Katz.

Don Cherry said the other night that Robbie Schremp is a guy who needs hockey to be fun, and that it was sucked out of him in Edmonton. Over to you, Craig.

If dirty play wins hockey games, the Oilers should be in first place in their conference.

It’s not talent or coaching that has put the Oilers where they are, but the ridiculous contracts that Kevin Lowe signed for players who were not even remotely deserving.

The reason Oilers fans have such awful reputations is that they have no capacity to realize that 1984 isn’t coming back.

It was a pleasure to watch the Super Bowl and not have to watch players do a “girlie” dance every time they caught a pass or made a tackle.

Was that really the American national anthem sung at the Super Bowl? Shame on whoever is responsible!

The main reason I can’t wait for the Oilers and Eskimos to become competitive again is for those teams to put curling on the back page of the sports section, where it belongs.
