5 injured as security forces quickly shut down Shiite protest in Saudi Arabia

Saudi security forces dispersed a protest by Shiite Muslims on Thursday in the restive Eastern province with percussion grenades and rubber bullets, wounding five people, according to witnesses in the city of Qatif. The crackdown heightened fears that nationwide demonstrations scheduled in Saudi Arabia for Friday could turn violent.
