Valentine's Day

We love hockey. We love the river valley. Some of us even love each other. Ours is a city of lovers, and this Valentine’s Day, let’s show that love as only Edmontonians can. The Journal is creating online valentines designed specifically for Edmonton, and we’d like your help.

Health

The good news is that Gerry Haracsi, Julie Isaac and Sue Salsbury are on their way to a fitter, healthier lifestyle and loving it. There is no bad news. They feel good because they’ve stopped thinking and talking about doing something and are actually doing it, says Brad Kuchinka, Haracsi’s personal trainer.

Julie Isaac waited months to be diagnosed with postpartum depression because she thought new moms who had it wanted to hurt themselves or their babies. She was just an anxious “terrible mother” because she couldn’t get her newborn son to nap.

Throughout the challenge we’ll feature exercises demonstrated by each of our challenge finalists, as described by their trainers, that you can try at home. You can see the trio working out in videos posted online at edmontonjournal.com/healthclub.

Does having a doctor’s OK to start exercising mean you’re good to do anything, like use a treadmill, for example, for as long as you want?
