Although South Florida is a resort destination, the focus as far as accommodations are concerned, ironically, has moved away from resort hotels and toward smaller boutique hotels. This applies especially on South Beach, where the hip factor plays as much a role as beach access. Dilapidated Art Deco hotels are now hot spots that can be seen in the pages of magazines such as In Style. If boutique hotels don't appeal to you, fret not, as there are several resorts -- you just have to look a bit harder these days. The major chains -- Loew's, Marriott, Sheraton, Ritz-Carlton, Wyndham, and Hyatt, among others -- appeal more to those with families or couples looking for a resort vacation. They can be found everywhere from the Keys to Hutchinson Island.
