“Independence cannot be revoked”

BERLIN -- Former deputy UN envoy in the Kosovo negotiations Albert Rohan does not believe it is possible to revoke Kosovo’s independence.
"That is impossible, and Belgrade knows it. New negotiations over status issues are pointless. However, if there is willingness for talks about mutual relations between two neighboring states, that should be welcomed,” Rohan said.
He said that in the short term, there were no differences between the nationalist and pro-EU blocs in Serbia, since the latter were "conducting the policies of the Serb Radical Party and Democratic Party of Serbia leader Vojislav Koštunica".
"In the long run, I believe that a pro-EU government could find it easier to come to a sort of modus vivendi for Kosovo,” Rohan told Deutsche Welle Radio.
