Welcome to Kirby Smith

Challenger Center

Kirby-Smith is home to the Challenger Learning Center, a NASA program that allows students to explore in a space themed learning environment, full of simulations, explorations, and much more.

If you're a Kirby-Smith student, you will visit this center twice in the 6th grade, twice in the 7th grade, and be able to participate in the STAR intern program in 8th grade.

The STAR intern program allows students in the 8th grade to work at the Challenger.  Students in the program assist 6th graders with their Challenger Center experience and participate in national rocketry and other space related science competitions.

For more information, visit the Challenger Center's website.

The Kirby-Smith Challenger Center was featured on CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.
