Top Three priorities:

Boost the Economy with Investment in Small Business.

As a small business owner, I understand what proactive investments can do for a growing organization. Instead of giving $950,000 to large national corporations, we should invest $95,000 in 10 small to medium size businesses. When companies start here and grow here, they stay here and give back to our local economy. Some of the most successful businesses in town were created here and because of the encouragement, investment and incentives they were given, they have deep roots that will help drive our economy for generations to come.

Create Affordable Housing options for families in our community.

There are thousands of single mothers with children on the waiting list for Section 8 or affordable housing. At the same time, there are 6,000 vacant properties all over our community. We need to encourage developers and builders, who are hurting in this economy, to demolish or rehabilitate these empty homes. Let's get creative and design community gardens or make these historic houses energy efficient. When families have stable and affordable housing, children and communities thrive.

Demand Transparency and Accountability in all areas of Metro Government.

As a taxpayer, I hope that you are as frustrated as I am at the recent Metro Government Audit. Confidentiality agreements, sweetheart loans and back room deals will be a thing of the past when I am Mayor. As President of Dress for Success Louisville, we had to account for every dime we spent to help women succeed. I will demand the same type of across the board transparency and accountability so that your hard earned dollars are spent appropriately and efficiently.
