Apple’s iPad Wi-Fi + 3G was named gadget of the year and innovation of the year at the annual T3 Awards, and was also named retailer of the year. The iPhone 4 picked up the trophy for commuter gadget of the year, while the MacBook Pro was named computer of the year.

Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC capped an impressive 12 months by scooping the brand of the year award, while its flagship device, the HTC Desire, was named phone of the year.

Luke Peters, editor of T3, said the company’s diverse range of handsets to suit all tastes and budgets had resonated with consumers.

“HTC bagged the technology brand of the year award because not only do they have great products, but they’ve got the personality to match,” he said.

Spotify was named the new media service of the year, while Google Maps Navigation scooped the inaugural app of the year award.

Gadget Show presenter Suzi Perry was named gadget personality of the year, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Stephen Fry and Jason Chen, editor of Gizmodo, the technology blog that published the first details of Apple’s iPhone 4.
