Detroit Auto Show: Chevrolet Sonic

Chevrolet's Sonic is an updated version of the company's Aveo small car, displayed at Detroit with some questionable 'boy-racer' additions.

Not Sonic the Hedgehog, but how weirdly scary would it be if hedgehogs had really developed their own cars to do unto others?

Instead, this Sonic is an updated small car from 100-year-old Chevrolet available in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback forms. Produced at GM's Orion plant in Michigan, which itself is something of a novelty these days, the Sonic will start rolling off the production lines later this year creating 1,000 jobs in the process.

Engines will be (relatively) small displacement Ecotec petrol units of 1.4 and 1.8 litres, which are also used in the Chevrolet Cruze.
