  5. Describe selected DMBMs using abstract value-chain functions

  1. DMP calls for contributions from its members and interested organisations on the different areas of its Work Plan for submission at GA03, in particular 

    1. Traditional Rights and Usages, Digital Enabled Usages, Digital Media Business Models and corresponding Requirements.

    2. Requirements for Portable Audio Visual Devices. This is particulalry urgent as DMP will issue a Call for Proposal on this topic at GA03 (July 2004).

    3. Contributions on “Abstract value-chain functions”. These are required to enable DMP to issue a Call for Proposals on IEP and IED at GA04 (October 2004).

    4. Studies of Deployment of Broadband Access (DBA). In particular the DMP solicits contributions addressing

      1. The degree of support of DMP-enabled Digital Media Services on existing broadband deployments and the expected trends

      2. How the availability of DMP IDP and IED Technical Specifications will influence the prospects of broadband deployment.

    5. Identification of current difficulties in the use of digital media standards and proposals on how to overcome the difficulties. DMP plans to hold a workshop style presentation and discussion at the Osaka meeting on 2004/0712. DMP encourages the establishment of a promotion group to raise awareness of and participation in the workshop. People interested in joining this promotion group should contact T.   2.  DMP approves sending liaison statements to:

         The liaison statements sent to each organisation will be based on document DMP0079.

  1.  DMP notes the following communications from the Board

    1. Non-DMP members will be welcome to attend GA03. However, starting from GA04 participation will be possible only for DMP members. Exceptions to this rule will be approved by the Board.

    2. The Board will seek legal advise to create the conditions for allowing immediate exploitability of its specifications at the time of approval.

  2. DMP thanks the participants in the TRU Workshop for their contributions, Philip Merrill for its organisation and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for hosting the event.  

  3. DMP would like to thank the non-members who have attended GA02 and offered valuable contributions to the discussions. This has helped refine the DMP Work Plan and create the conditions for achieving its ambitious goals. DMP looks forward to working with them again at GA03, if possible as DMP members.
