SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Two Spartanburg County sheriff's deputies have been hurt when they tried to arrest a man and woman at a convenience store.

Master Deputy Tony Ivey says a man threw something behind the store and walked away early Friday. One deputy discovered it was a gun and the other deputy tried to stop the man.

Ivey says the woman attacked a deputy as they struggled with the man.

Cpl. David Traxler was knocked unconscious and Deputy Chad Dunning was injured. Dunning was treated and released from a hospital. Traxler was still being treated late Friday morning.

Jay Lamar Lowrance is charged with aggravated domestic violence, resisting arrest, assault and battery and illegally carrying a pistol. Kemyatta Lachelle Rice-Gist is charged with assault and battery.

It was unclear if they have attorneys.
