Pub Officers Survey
Survey of Lost Pubs

I would be grateful for your help. We are looking to build up a selection of case studies of pubs that have been converted to other purposes such as shops, restaurants, financial & professional services offices etc without the need for change of use planning permission. We are also looking for cases where a pub has been demolished without planning permission in place for a new use.

We are gathering this information in support of Nigel Adams MP's private members bill The Protection of Local Services (Planning) Bill, which will give local councils in England the power to close loopholes in planning law which allow local services such as pubs. Post offices, local shops, community and sports facilities to be demolished without the need to seek planning permission.

We would be grateful if you could fill in the online survey with information on pubs in your branch area that have been lost through change of use or demolition. Just select the appropriate box to indicate what the change of use has been.

We would also like you to submit saved pubs in your area.

You should consider the period back to January 2007 for this survey.

Any additional comments you feel that would be useful especially those pointing out how the planning loopholes have been used by developers will be gratefully received.

Although Nigel Adams private member's bill will apply only to pubs in England we do want to get examples of closed and demolished pubs in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well.
