Mission Center: The Episcopal Church: Community

What We Do

“After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb”  – Revelation 7.9

We provide resources for networking, for developing workshops and trainings, and for developing intercultural leadership. You’ll find here resources created by this office to be used and/or adapted to meet your unique needs. Check the “Related Links” page for best practices from provinces, dioceses, and congregations throughout the Episcopal Church and the wider Christian community.

Trainings

Communicating Across Cultures
These are designed for all those seeking to become better intercultural communicators. We explore the complexities of culture, defining and identifying the factors that influence cultural development, as well as the connection between culture and communication.
Intercultural Leadership Trainings
We are in the process of designing a training program to equip Christians for lay and ordained leadership roles in diverse communities. Workshops will build on the principles from “Communicating Across Cultures” training and will cover topics such as “parish as place,” “understanding the demographics of your community and congregation,” “models for intercultural integration,” and others.

The Episcopal Intercultural Network (EIN): Our neighborhoods are rapidly changing and sometimes we are at a loss as how best to serve our new neighbors or how to invite and welcome new members. EIN allows those working in intercultural ministries to offer support, ideas, resources, and prayers for each other.

Available Scholarships:
The office of Intercultural Ministries encourage our young people to take advantage of funding that is being offered.  The scholarship guidelines, the application form and the instructions for filling out the form are available at this link:  Scholarship Application and Guidelines. A list of trust funds can be accessed here: Trust Funds.

Why Serve: Discerning God's Call
The Why Serve conference is a safe place to learn more about how your gifts might be used at various levels of the church, either as a lay or ordained minister.
