About EMM
Refugees are ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, fleeing persecution, oppression and war. EMM's principal work is resettling refugees in the United States. We partner with local faith groups and community organizations to help refugees rebuild their lives and become self-sufficient in their new surroundings.
We support our affiliates in providing an array of services to the uprooted. And we join our Episcopal Church colleagues and national partners to advocate for justice on behalf of the most vulnerable among us.
We seek for every human being the dignity that is the birthright of all.
Refugee Resettlement
In 2009, EMM resettled more than 4,500 refugees in the United States. Our network of affiliate offices, faith groups, and volunteers helps us extend hospitality to the stranger in our midst.
Message from the Presiding Bishop
“I continue to be reminded that Jesus and his family were refugees in Egypt. Will we recognize him when he wanders into our midst?” says Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori. She issues this challenge to us: “Our duty to love and care for [refugees and immigrants] is urgent.”

Advocacy
Refugees and immigrants are often voiceless and invisible to those in power. We affirm the work of our colleagues in the Episcopal Church Office of Government Relations, which advocates on behalf of the uprooted in the U.S. and abroad.
