Event Description: Wintertalk 2011 will be held January 15-18, 2011, in Albuquerque, NM, and co-hosted by the Episcopal Church of Navajoland and the Diocese of the Rio Grande. Each diocese is invited to send participants, both elder/adult, young adult and youth. We particularly encourage anyone with community organizing and leadership experience to attend as we update progress on Domestic Poverty Alleviation work and follow up on the 2010 Oklahoma Consultation.
Theme: It's Our Time…
We have a very limited budget for travel grants, as such they will be divided regionally with an average of two adult grants and one youth (ages 14-18) grant per diocese available on a first-come-first-served basis. We greatly appreciate any participant who is willing and able to pay for their own travel, as well as any diocese and parish that is able to assist with travel costs. You will have the opportunity to indicate whether you want to pay for your own travel in the registration process. All applications must be authorized by the diocese and/or the regional council of indigenous ministry. The registration website is http://events.SignUp4.com/wintertalk2011. The registration fee is $100 per person which will cover hotel accommodations, meals and ground transportation. We will also hold a Native Youth Event with the registration cost of $50 per person which covers cathedral accommodations, meals, and ground transportation. Registration closes December 10, 2010. Additionally, as part of our work with Domestic Poverty Alleviation, we will offer two training before and after Wintertalk 2011. If you choose to attend these trainings in addition to attending Wintertalk 2011, hotel accommodations for Wintertalk participants will be included.
