	Prokofiev: Symphony no 7, etc / Järvi, Scottish NO Conductor: Neeme Jarvi Orchestra/Ensemble: Royal Scottish National Orchestra Catalog Num: Chandos 8442 In Järvi's highly-acclaimed cycle, it is the lesser-known works that truly stand out. The Seventh symphony is a rather wayward composition, but still very charming and persuasive, particularly in the hands of these musicians. The orchestra play with much commitment, and Järvi's style with Prokofiev is predictably instinctive and all play with winning enthusiasm. The similarities between the Seventh and the Sinfonietta are strikingly obvious when heard side-by-side, and one's mind also thinks of the Classical symphony at the same time. Sweet alluring performances, with the sunny side up!! Very fine digital recording to match. Ozawa (DG) also recorded the Seventh, but unfortunately, his does not stand in the same class as Järvi's, whose account is really quite special [Lionel Choi] ( This review also appears at The Prokofiev Collected Works website. )
