Just two years after they tied the knot in a secret ceremony on Vancouver Island, Hollywood sweethearts Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson have wrenched off their wedding rings.

Ryan Reynolds filed for divorce Thursday in what appears to be an amicable split, according to media reports.

The Vancouver hunk listed the couple's date of separation as Dec. 14, 2010, according to RadarOnline. Johansson agrees on the date, reports TMZ. There is no prenuptial agreement and Reynolds is neither party is asking for spousal support.

The couple released the following statement on Dec. 15:

"After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."

It was just last year that Johansson painted a picture of domestic bliss for the couple: "I like cooking alone — I find it very therapeutic," she told InStyle magazine. "I put on some music, maybe have a glass of wine, and make something like a turkey bolognese or a nice frittata."
