AFL boss Andrew Demetriou says the league has repeatedly tried to help the girl at the centre of the St Kilda photo scandal.
The 17-year-old posted nude photos of St Kilda players Nick Riewoldt and Nick Dal Santo on the internet two days ago and is threatening to release more embarrassing shots of AFL players.
She says she is seeking revenge against the AFL for its handling of a complaint she made earlier in the year about other St Kilda players.
Mr Demetriou said he was aware the photos were going to be released after he was informed the girl had offered the images to media organisations and Riewoldt's manager.
Mr Demetriou said she needs help.
"We will continue to offer support to this young girl and we will continue to offer support to Nick Riewoldt and the other players involved," he told Fairfax Radio.
"There's no winners out of this."
Mr Demetriou said the league has meet with the girl at least 20 times since April.
"We've also provided her with counselling services, support services, certainly accommodation," he told Fairfax Radio.
"We've offered her assistance to provide counselling, offered assistance to her parents.
"So we take these matters very seriously."
He said the girl and the St Kilda players would continue to be offered the league's support.
He denied the incident is a poor reflection on the Saints skipper, who protested his innocence at a press conference yesterday.
"There's a lot of people who are feeding off a frenzy, this is a great big story, this is terrible, why are these players doing this," Demetriou said.
"I don't think this is a bad reflection on Nick Riewoldt at all.
"I have great faith in Nick Riewoldt as an individual, I have great faith in him as a footballer.
"Hopefully we can put this behind us."
Sam Gilbert has apologised to his team-mates for the release of the photos, which he said were stolen from his personal computer.
