Dhaka, Dec 22 (bdnews24.com) — The government will form district transportation committees within 15 days.

A statement of the communication ministry made the announcement on Wednesday and said that the decision was to enforce discipline and stability in traffic flow.

The statement asks the committees to report within 15 days once they have been formed.

The instructions were sent to the district authorities on Wednesday with special emphasis on holding regular meetings and being proactive.

"Both owners and employees need to work hand in hand in order for law to maintain discipline on the roads. Implementation of traffic laws will be finalised in the next meeting," communications minister Syed Abdul Hussain said.

"Construction work to make the Joydebpur-Mymensing road a four lane will begin soon and construction of Dhaka-Chittagong highway will begin within this month," he added.
