Ready to tell the ETV story
When Linda O’Bryon left San Francisco for Florida in August, she thought her career leading public broadcasters was winding down - until South Carolina Educational Television rang her phone.
“I was expecting to settle in Florida, but this opportunity came up,” said O’Bryon, who was named ETV president and CEO last month. “And I loved South Carolina because of those days when my daughter went to College of Charleston. We got to know (the state) very well then.”
O’Bryon is replacing the retired David Crouch, and she inherits a legacy station that recently celebrated its 50th birthday. She is just the sixth company president.
What began as an education experiment broadcast into a handful of South Carolina classrooms is now a statewide network with multiple TV channels and ETV Radio. ETV has steadily raised its national profile and is now a respected network in the public TV system.
