Welcome to the weekly iPhone Quality index (Qi) games roundup, giving you the LOWdown on the HIGH scorers every Friday on these illustrious pages.
Launched in beta by Steel Media, publisher of PocketGamer.biz, Qi trawls the web for game and app reviews from the worlds most respected online and print sources.
Qi then applies its own magic formula to each site (such as 148Apps, Macworld, IGN, Gamezebo, and TiPB) to establish a single definitive Qi score for each iPhone app and game.
Manic Miner
Zooming onto the Qi leaderboards in the #2 cockpit this week flies the super addictive Space Miner Blast, sucking up two priceless reviews for a terrific 9.0 Qi rating.
Whilst the iOS world patiently awaits the full sequel to the critically acclaimed Space Miner: Space Ore Bust, Venan Entertainment unleashed a twin-stick shooter spin-off for our delectation.
Retina display support supplies extra zing to this arcade-RPG hybrid, for which Gamezebo reserved the following praise: Space Miner Blast manages to make the (shooting) experience feel totally fresh thanks to the unique control scheme, customizable upgrades, and just one more wave! gameplay.
Match made in Heaven
Blasting of a different kind attracted favourable reviews from across the iPhone universe as the four day young Push Panic pulled in a sublime 8.8 average from three review sites, including a textbook 10 from AppSpy.
Appular has somehow managed to achieve the impossible with this colourful and frenetic box tapping challenge by injecting new life into the oversubscribed match-three puzzle market.
148Apps fought the urge to play Push Panic one more time, commenting that, the various power ups and score barriers required to progress add a slight element of strategy to proceedings so that Push Panic never suffers from the monotony that other, similar titles can have.
Bewitching adventures
And just like magic, a Harry Potter title appeared on the App Store in time for the theatrical release of Part I of the Deathly Hallows.
Marrying the timeless appeal of LEGO with the bespectacled wizards early adventures at Hogwarts has conjured up a winner for Warner Bros.
Casting what appears to be a universal spell over iPhone game reviewers, LEGO Harry Potter has summoned no fewer than 11 positive reviews in the space of seven days for a deserved spot on the Qi Top 10 rundown.
You can get the up-to-date information about which games are reviewing best over at the Quality index.
