COLOGNE -- THQ showcased the first gameplay of the new PC version of Homefront, which is being developed from the ground up by Canadian studio Digital Extremes. Kaos Studios is developing the console versions of the shooter, while THQ Digital is creating the downloadable game Homefront: Battleground. Homefront on PC further illustrates THQ’s commitment to PC gamers with additional features and options for multiplayer fans.

Ultimately, videogames will play as an important role for the adoption of the iPad as its ability to offer e-books, movies and TV shows.

Electronic Arts’ Montreal Studio had so much success with the original, critically-acclaimed Army of Two game, which was powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 technology, that they went right back to the battlefield with a sequel, Army of Two: The 40th Day. Reid Schneider, executive producer on the Army of Two franchise (a Hollywood movie adaptation is also in the works), has been working with Epic’s game technology for years.

LAS VEGAS -- On the floor of CES 2010 at the MSI booth, the PC maker was giving away free gaming laptops. The only catch was that you had to beat pro gamers Evil Geniuses to walk away with the prize. James Cameron's Avatar isn't the only $1 billion entertainment property out there. While the Avatar movie continues to rake in the dough at the top of the box office ($1.3 billion and counting), Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is still selling well in the new year. Activision announced that Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 continues to set sell-through records crossing the $1 billion mark in retail sales worldwide since its launch in November, according to internal Activision estimates.

The $550 million, five-day haul that Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 raked in – the largest entertainment launch in history -- shows the power of interactive entertainment even amidst the tough economic climate.
