The mid 21st Century saw an unrivalled acceleration in technological advancements. In an age of pessimism, the predicted Technical Singularity was perceived to be a modern Armageddon. The reality couldn't have been more different.
The Singularity was certainly a catalyst for technological growth, but it also signalled the dawn of a new, positive era in human development - interstellar travel, rapid colonisation of the Galaxy, inexhaustible energy, learning Artificial Intelligence and ultimately the power to travel between quantum realities (or surfing as it became to be known)
The negative qualities that had come to define the human race - greed, fame, war, disease - are now a thing of the past. The end of economic scarcity and the elimination of every major social evil have produced a newfound state of Utopia. Individuals come together and co-operate for the betterment of mankind. It is now creativity rather than material wealth that drives ambition.
Sodium One
Sodium is the embodiment of the new human spirit. Individuals are free to behave and express themselves however they wish and have a meaningful contribution to the community.
Sodium is a location that intermittently moves through quantum realities. Each 'shift' is accompanied by alterations in the environment - some may be hardly noticeable (indigenous life-forms gaining new abilities) whilst others may be fundamental (entirely new areas appearing in the world).
The unpredictable nature of quantum travel creates difficulties in predicting when and how a change will occur, but each 'shift' brings a renewed sense of freedom, new entertainment experiences, new ways to express your creativity, new ways to meet new people - all with a positive impact on reality.
Sports from the Singularity
Regulated athletics competition becomes impossible following the advent of untraceable nano-technology. Now that physical and mental competition is tainted, people use creativity more and more as a competitive outlet. The technical singularity is also responsible for a new breed of 'extreme' sports.
Prove yourself against the physical creations of the technical singularity in the Sodium One combat game. Self-assembling robots with adaptive Artificial Intelligence prove the basis for the ultimate in extreme sports.
Passing through countless realities have evolved indigenous scorpions into much more of a danger. Visitors are encouraged to cull these pests but each 'shift' changes them in different ways so be sure to not underestimate their current abilities.
