Eagles sack Jets in preseason finale 24-14

Quarterback depth is now a question for the Jets. Rookie reserve Greg McElroy injured his right thumb by banging it against the helmet of offensive lineman Matt Kroul in the second quarter of Thursday night's 24-14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles at the Meadowlands in the preseason finale.

Giants win but lose Stintim for year

Tom Coughlin wasn't left with a choice after Hurricane Irene wreaked havoc with his schedule and left the Giants with two days to prepare for the preseason finale. Rather than take any chances he dressed only 58 of his 85 players and only 20 of his 22 starters. Not surprisingly the result was sloppy football. But the Giants managed to squeeze out the win, 18-17.

Jets don't see former Giant Smith

Ex-Giant Steve Smith was not in the Eagles' lineup Thursday night even though he was on the practice field for the first time since Philadelphia signed him last month. Smith is recovering from microfracture surgery on his left knee.
