Nokia claims its version of Apple’s App Store now has 165 million users.

Finland-based telecommunications company Nokia has announced that its Ovi Store, through which users purchase apps and media content, has reached daily downloads of 3 million a day.

“The total number of users of Ovi now exceeds 165 million people, across more than 190 countries,” the company said in a statement yesterday. “And it’s growing at the new rate of 250,000 new users every day. Ninety per cent of visits to the Store lead to an app download – on average each registered visitor downloads 2.6 apps.”

The company says that 92 developers have passed a milestone of one million downloads for their apps since Ovi launched last year, with over 400,000 developers signing up for the Ovi Store’s development platform Forum Nokia in 2010.

Nokia says the top three apps on the store worldwide are flashlight tool Q Torch, Rovio’s Angry Birds and EA’s Need For Speed Shift HD.

Last month Nokia announced that the Ovi Store had reached 2.3 million downloads a day, with 200,000 daily sign-ups of new users.
