NaturalMotion Announces New Publishing Division

Technology company behind the Euphoria engine announces new production arm with focus on downloadable titles for “connected platforms”.

Videogame developer and technology company NaturalMotion has today announced a new publishing division, NaturalMotion Games, that will develop and release “socially connected” titles for mobile and console devices.

Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion Games says: “We believe there is a significant opportunity in combining the ease of use and connectivity of social games with the stunning performance of modern devices such as iOS, Android and consoles.”

NaturalMotion’s Euphoria physics engine has been used in games such as Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV, and the company’s Morpheme animation technology is used in Enslaved: Odyssey To The West and the forthcoming shooter Bodycount.

In a Venturebeat report, Reil elaborates on the decision to focus on download games: “The retail environment can be very bruising,” he says. “We will continue to invest in the console side, and I wouldn’t rule it out. But digital distribution will be our priority. We can use digital to explore a number of different product types and business models.”

The company’s App Store game Backbreaker Football, released earlier this year, has had over three million downloads and the sequel will be one of the first games to be released by the new division.
