Through the years, I've been a member of several reading groups. Unfortunately, they've rarely involved graphic novels (and when they did, it was at my suggestion). This is why I've always loved events like comics conventions: By and large, the vast majority of my friends and family do not read comics, so conventions were always a chance to meet with like-minded people. In my reading-group experience, I've managed to work in books like The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, but primarily I steer clear of graphic-related content, simply because the rest of the group isn't really into it. So I was heartened to see this nice essay at our sister site ReadingGroupGuides.com about the Austin Public Library's discussion of Logicomix (that's a nice choice for a book club, by the way--it's a hearty read with tons of debatable topics presented in a nice, concise way. More book clubs should seriously consider picking it up).
