Katie Monnin is an assistant professor of literacy at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. She has presented nationally and internationally at conferences on teaching graphic novels in the classroom, image and print-text literacies, and new media. Katie’s first book, Teaching Graphic Novels, was recently recognized as a finalist for the 2009 ForeWord Educational Book of the Year Award. Her second book, Teaching Early Reader Comics and Graphic Novels,will be released in early 2011.
