Utter baws. What a load of pish. We went to a show where he was the MC and same routine and jokes. Almost word for word as we had heard him doing before. Wasted our night

Watty gilfillan, October 2010

I saw Smug Roberts at LLangollen Pavillion last night. We go to the Kill For a Seat Comedy clubs twice a month, and only rarely do I bother commenting here on an act. Smug was sweet, cuddly and very warm. After and awkward intro fom the compare Silky, Smug gradually won the (by now slightly hostile) audience around and had them eating out of the palm of his hand. By the end we were all doing Scooby Doo impressions and making animal noises! Lovely guy, gently funny, with a slightly unexpected set of material. I'd love to see him again. My son was mortified when he picked on his 45p Asda Ginger Beer - but it made my night to see him squirm!

Samantha Darnbrough, July 2010

Awful, awful, awful! Just didn't like him... OK a lot of the people there disagreed with me but should a comedian worth his salt still be doing a Take That set in Jan 2009 that he appeared to be doing in Feb 2006? Get some new material! One or two good one-liners were the funniest things he said... Avoid the wrong drawn-out crap routines!

Bodj, January 2009

I see a couple of comedy gigs a year, so have maybe seen 20 odd shows over the years in various venues. I don't know if I'm paying for sins of a former life, but I have had the misfortune to hear exactly the same rubbish material from Smug Roberts three times now. Not once has he ever managed more than a vague smile from the bored audience. By still being around, and by headlining gigs at places like the Glee Club, he obviously must amuse some people, but all I can say is that I've seen tumbleweeds three times now. How many years can you make a career out of a Robert de Niro impression?

Vince, July 2008

I worked with Smug on a few live radio shows and he is a great performer, Even when I got to know some of the material he just could deliver it so well and his timing was always spot on. A nd he works so well off the cuff like a true pro. A huge talent, Manchester should be proud.

Sean, March 2006

Very very funny! Had the crowd in the palm of his hand and the Take That sequence was superb

PAG, February 2006

Really was poor I thought limited material, not really a great load of laughs. The Take That sequence to end the set was genius but considering he was in a pub and was outshone by all other acts says a lot really.

[Anon], December 2005

Simply excellent.
