My Sassy Girl v4
Reviewed by David Rasmussen

When it comes to humor in manhwa I guess you have to consider the target audience. Actually when it comes to humor anywhere in comics (with any genre) it's the audience you're aiming for that sets the humor. This must be the gross humor audience, since it got such a poor score from me.

From presently-non-functioning, out-of-business ComicsOne (whose only "heir" since collapse seems to be DrMaster, which absorbed part of its lineup before ComicsOne's collapse), Sassy Girl is a title I won't miss if it was never again published by anyone out there (DR Master included).

Geon-Woo is an idiot.

He's fallen in love with ultra high maintenance so-called "Sassy Girl" (hence the title) … whatshername. So while on a date (after a stupid story about anal probing, pooping and Grand Theft Poop), somehow Geon-Woo (while trying to turn on the moves with his girl) gets talked into experiencing past-life regression… where he imagines he's in the days of the caveman… as envisioned by Hollywood. I suppose you can guess from there what role his "Sassy Girl" plays, and the torture he endures during the "experience" in the past.

Whatever little else there is fares no better. A misadventure in blind dating, especially since Geon-Woo is a moron and can't remember a certain fact that would have helped when he started picking up "subjects" for the meet and greet. Oh, and then how about a nightmarish train ride from heck and one more story that seems to be just as pointless as the other stories.

Let's see… it's either too gross (including potty and bad sexual humor), too meaningless (watching the failing attempts to bond with this girl is _so_ not interesting or fun), or just too dull (yawn, they're sitting together again eating or walking about talking or something else boring).

The artwork is good enough, but the writing is just too much (and I don't mean that in a good way). Rotating between being disgusted by the title, bored by it, or just plain not interested in it, it's a manhwa I cared nothing for.

But like I said, consider the audience. Obviously I'm not the target audience. Not by a long shot. So that's why it gets a C- grade. I'm sure there's a target audience for this somewhere out there… it's just not me.
