Girl Got Game v1

”Kyo Aizawa is very excited about attending Seisyu Academy, which is famous for its adorable girls' uniforms. Her excitement is crushed, however, when she opens the package containing her uniform to find a boy's uniform. Her father explains to her that, as Seisyu Academy is also famous for its boys' basketball program, he enrolled her as a boy, so she can fulfill his own dream of becoming an NBA basketball star. To make matters worse, she has to stay in the dorms, and her roommate is the same boy she came to hate at tryouts.”

The Good:
Very well paced and presented book, the essential setup is done and out of the way in a matter of the first few pages, leaving the rest of the book free to develop the situation and throw a few twists and turns the reader's way. Great, clear lettering, a superb cliffhanger, and an appealing set of characters.

The Bad:
Already there are signs that the book may turn into a plot timeloop - the same characters going through the same soap opera situations time and time: first they like each other, then someone says something, then they hate each other, then someone wonders what it was they said to upset the other, then they make it up somehow, round and round and round...

And The Ugly:
The basic premise is completely ridiculous, and there's not even much attempt made at minor subterfuge let alone the huge deception actually needed to carry something like this off - it rankles faintly.

The Verdict:
Interesting and entertaining throughout, with a great hook to bring you back for book two. Recommended.
