Mamas Moving With Mary

and a giveaway too!

***UPDATE: Contest is now over and comments are closed. I will post the winner’s name shortly!

Do you ever think it’s too hard for a mom to find regular time for fitness and prayer? Well, here’s an inspiring story of some moms who made fitness and prayer a priority—with great results!

Mamas Movin’ With Mary started when three Catholic moms decided to get together regularly with the goal of training for a half-marathon.

We are three moms who love walking for exercise.  In 2009 we decided to train for the Columbus Half Marathon.  Our team walks took place on Saturday mornings and we often talked about how wonderful it was to take time for ourselves.  Each week we prayed a rosary together and as our devotion to the Blessed Mother grew our hearts became filled with peace and we felt a closer connection to our Lord.  We began to fully appreciate and understand the phrase “To Jesus through Mary”.  With increased endurance and enriched faith we completed the Columbus Half Marathon and called ourselves “Mamas Movin’ With Mary”.
It is now our goal to inspire others to take time for themselves and “Get Movin’ With Mary”.

The “Mamas” even designed their own running shirts—super comfortable and cute ones!

We’re very excited to share our motivational t-shirts with you: they’re women’s black, moisture-wicking shirts with our logo on the front and “Hail Marys aren’t just for football” on the back. We plan to expand our product line to include men’s shirts in the near future. A portion of our proceeds will benefit the Brian Muha Foundation, an amazing Columbus, Ohio based organization that helps inner-city children. Be sure to check out our Facebook page!

The Mamas have been kind enough to offer one of their shirts in a giveaway here at Faith & Family Live.

To enter, all you have to do is post a comment here, sharing your own fitness or prayer goal for the month of September.

I will take entries until 6:00 pm EST Friday, September 3, and draw a random winner soon after that, and announce over the weekend.

Good luck to you and thank you to the Mamas!

I would love that shirt!!! I am a cancer survivor trying hard to get in shape. my goal is to be able to walk a brisk 3 miles by the end of September.

In case I win…XL.  smile TJTM

Maybe the shirt is the motivator I need to get out on my bike and the hiking trails again!

Very inspiring! I love that shirt. smile I am in my third trimester of pregnancy (with my 6th child) and have been walking 3-5 miles every night with my husband. My goal is to have the healthiest labor possible and lay the foundation for a strong recovery since I have lots of littles who will be relying on me.

My goal is to workout 4 times a week, as opposed to the 2 times a week that I am doing now.

Cute shirt!  My husband and I just started working out together in the evenings.  Our goal is to keep at it 5 times a week.

What a great shirt!  Maybe it will inspire me to take up the running I keep talking about!  Post partum with number five, I could really use it!

I would love that shirt!  So cute!!!  My fitness goal would be to walk three times a week in September.

Wonderful shirt!  My fitness goal is to get moving with my family on the weekend, by taking hikes and bike rides.  As well as getting some me time fitness during the week, in the pool perhaps. smile

My fitness goal is to run/walk my first 5k on Sept. 18th.  I got an injury running so have to modify it to a walk, but it is a fast walk!!  Awesome shirt!

I keep thinking I need to sign up for a run, to get myself motivated for the gym. This is a WONDERFUL motivating tool, reading this story!

I hope to begin taking regular early morning walks with my toddler, rising 13-year old daughter & her pup.  I hope to set a good example of the importance of staying fit & a healthy body image as she matures.

What a great shirt! My goal is to continue exercising while listening to my body through the third trimester of my first pregnancy.

I love, love, love that t-shirt.  If I don’t win, I would love to order one!  I have zero motivation for working out, so this would be inspirational for me!  I love the idea of praying the rosary with friends while walking!  Maybe I’ll try that!

I love to pray while working out.  These shirts are great.  My goal is to get my son, and the rest of our family, to finish his 100 miles of hiking for cub scouts by February.

I just did a 5K with my church last week, so that was my only outstanding fitness goal.  For September, I hope to just keep doing what I’ve been doing - gym 5x week, bike rides as long as the Colorado weather permits, and walks most every day.  What a cute shirt!

I would love to be able to run a 5 k with hubs at the end of the year. But would like to start with walking regularly.

After three gorgeous baby girls in three years, my body needs to get back into shape!  I have been doing weight watchers for my food intake and using the couch to 5K training plan to hopefully run a 5K late this fall!

Sign me up! After having two daughters in two years, I am trying to stick with a regular work-out regimen! Plus, I’m working on saying a daily rosary. This is PERFECT motivation!

My goal for September is to power walk 4-5 times a week.  I plan to do a prayer walk and pray while I am walking.  I have a rosary tape I am going to put in my CD player—no ipod for me yet.

Love the shirt!  Keep up the good work ladies smile

Thanks for the opportunity to *try* to win this shirt!  Our goal daily is to say the Rosary as a family and after the Angelus at NOON we also say a Memorare.  smile

Great shirt!  My goal is to work in some exercise 3 days a week for September—and by the end of the month I hope it will become a habit I can step up in October.  Sounds like a little goal, but I don’t do any exercising now, other than hauling laundry up 3 flights of stairs!

Bad back issues, but the shirt would be motivation - take the dog out for a much needed walk for each day of a Novena!  LOVE the shirt - very neat idea!

this sounds lovely - like minded mama friends who ALSO want to exercise - awesome! smile

we are due with #2 in october, so for sept. i want to continue my little arm weights 4x a week and walk, walk walk walk (like i haven’t been doing) in the evenings to get ready for labor.

Cute shirt.
Goal: whole family, outside and moving, 3xWeek.

you know what- i could never take a t- shirt away from these ladies - they each have an inspirational faith filled story- i wish each of them could get a t- shirt - God Bless all of you!!!!- much love from Northeast Ohio!!!!

I LOVE this!  My goals are to get back to reading the bible each morning and to better my eating habits.  Summer is relaxed and laid bacck, but all my good goals suffer as well.

I am the mom of 5 who works really hard to make sure prayer life and exercise go hand in hand… it’s not only important to nourish our souls, but it’s important to take care of the gift of our bodes that God gave us!!!

My beloved 19 yr. old nephew, who drowned in a car accident earlier this month, said right before he died that they should start doing a family rosary again each night.  He was also an avid football player and fan.  He would have LOVED that shirt.  As his Godmother, I would like to ‘win’ it and give it to his family—he was the eldest of 7.  RIP, Alex.  I’m trying to do a daily rosary ‘cause of YOU.

What an awesome shirt!  My goals for the coming month:  To swim 4 times a week, to walk with my family (including the 4-legger) 5 times a week.

Fitness goal:  walk 3 miles 4 times per week
Prayer goal:  1 extra mass a week

We recently moved to within walking distance of our parish, so I can get to daily Mass in a two mile round-trip, a double blessing!

I have already started to do the 30 day shred video every other day.  I have kept it up for a few weeks…so my goal is to continue to do that.  I also want to try to dedicate a 15 minutes of solitary prayer time each morning.

LOVE this shirt! Trying to get in shape after having #4.

My fitness goal is to exercise twice a week…  I am taking my husband away for the last weekend of September, and would like to be five pounds less by then.  I’ve still got a bunch of baby weight on me, but know from experience that all I have to do is eliminate desserts, some mindless snacking and cut back on non-water drinks, and that weight will just melt off…  Exercise on top of that will keep me healthier, and keep me craving water.

My goal is to set aside more time for prayer!!!

I would love this shirt - what a great way to evangelize!  My September goal is to run a full mile non stop- something I haven’t done (if ever) in 20+ years.  Thanks!

Cute shirt.  My goal is to get into a regular workout routine and start running. I’m never been interested in running, but my husband is an avid runner and would like to help me train for a 10K in early Spring.  Also, to spend time exercising with my 8 year old on a regular basis.

I am hoping that in September, I can begin walking again, possibly running, after FINALLY healing from my c/section in JULY!!! (baby #5 was an emergency c/section, cord prolapse)
And I LOVE the shirt!! I’ll need Mary to lead me to fitness!

Please enter me!!!!! What a wonderful idea!

love it! my goal is to go to adoration once a week!

What an awesome shirt!!  I started walking last week when the kids went back to school, I am VERY BLESSED to to be able to stop at the Incarnate Word Shrine to say a prayer every day as a quick stop on my walk. My (almost) daily walk is in my new resolution to take care of myself.  I have recovered from a broken back, and the Dr. said if I would have landed just a hair different I would have been paralyzed.  As you can imagine, I am deeply thankful that I am able to walk, something I will never take for granted again ~

Awesome!  My goal is to lose 10 lbs.  Not a very big goal, but one I truly need to do.

Love the shirt, love the testimony!

A few of us homeschooling Mom’s are trying to get a regular walking routine going.  Just working on getting more commitment.

What a great shirt!  Currently I listen to the Scriptural rosary on my mp3 player when I’m on the treadmill about 3x a week - it conveniently keeps me going for a 1/2 hour.  I would love one of those shirts to wear to football games at my son’s school, and of course, for just wearing out and about.  Who knows whose life we’ll touch with that statement?!

My goal is to train for and finish my first sprint triathalon in October!  Also, My goal is to pray the liturgy of the hours every AM before we start homeschool!

3 months postpartum.  Thinking of joining a zumba class smile

I am currently 4 months pregnant and “trying” to get 3-4 walks in a day.  My goal is do be consistent and walk 4-5 times per week to keep healthy and in shape for this baby.  I would LOVE that t-shirt.  I hope to start running again after the baby is born.

My fitness goal for September is very small and meager: I just want to get up off my duff (big projects loom that will require much sitting in front of the computer screen) and walk around. Since we have a puppy that needs out frequently, this shouldn’t be too hard, at least if I want to keep myself from cleaning up a lot of messes!

Thanks for the chance to win!
