Today's Exciting Topic: Laundry Hampers!

What kind works for your family?

You all know know this is the blog for anyone grappling with the meaning of life or the cleaning of laundry.

So today, let’s talk laundry. Specifically, laundry hampers.

I love my laundry hamper. Or I suppose I should say, I loved my laundry hamper. Because it’s certainly seen brighter days.

I have one of those cute, wooden, folding hampers with a linen bag that ties on. The exact model I have is... READ MORE

Tights! Tights! Tights!

a little girl classic grows up

This week was the first week local temperatures dipped low enough to justify wearing my favorite fashion accessory—tights! For someone like me who favors simple, monotone clothing, tights can be an easy way to add a little flair. They can also add warmth to an outfit and are a fantastic way to “modest-ize” your wardrobe. Here are a few of my favorite selections from StockinGirl.com

I will often... READ MORE

Handling the Hamper

What's your laundry approach?

When my husband and I got married, we’d spent the previous years in college dorms.

As dorm-dwellers, both Bryan and I had ascribed to the method of laundry-stretching whereby you stock up on socks and underwear and wear the same pair of jeans for a week at a time. This was great when we combined households, since we had so many essentials that we could go almost a month without washing clothes.

Mix and (Don't) Match

Do you let little kids pick their own clothes?

Many days, my son wears more than one t-shirt. The first one is covered with yogurt or similar, so he gets a replacement. I can’t remember him ever doing what he did today, though: wearing two regular t-shirts simultaneously.

I got him dressed as usual, picking a cute blue t-shirt. He ripped it off and brought me an orange one from his dresser. Okay, not surprising - he loves bright colors and always... READ MORE

Will You Go Western?

What do you think of Glamour's '14 Most Wearable Fall Fashions'?

Happy Fall, ladies! I could barely believe it when I stepped out my front door this morning and was actually cold! Here in the South! In September! But let’s not talk about it lest I discover that it’s just too good to be true…

Let’s talk about fashion instead! More specifically, let’s talk about the Fall 2010 fashion trends! And no, not because I imagine many (any?) of us are planning on running... READ MORE

Dressed for Autumn

What do you wear in the cooler weather?

Summer is officially coming to a close here in Michigan. Last Sunday we sweated through Mass, this weekend we had to bring jackets.

I abhor the heat of summer, so I’m thrilled that cooler weather is on its way. We’ll still have some hot days, but for the most part those are over until next year.

One of my favorite things about fall is the clothes. Since our resident fashion blogger is on maternity... READ MORE

Sock-foot or Barefoot?

What's your preference?

In summer, I eschew socks.

Occasionally my exercise footwear requires socks, but when the activity ends I immediately sit and rip them off, and my feet and I are both relieved and happy for the resultant breath of fresh air. Other than when exercising, I am completely sock-free during the warmer months.

I mentioned to my husband that I’ve gone at least a week at a time without wearing socks. He looked... READ MORE

Nursing Wear To Fit Your Needs, Style and Budget

Fashion Friday!

Am I the only one who is less-than-satisfied with the current selection of nursing-wear fashions available? Don’t get me wrong; I do occasionally stumble upon a piece or two that are pretty cute but, all in all, the options out there leave a little something to be desired, don’t you think?

Maybe I’m crazy, not looking hard enough, or not looking in the right places, but from what I can tell most... READ MORE

Keep It On!

How have you dealt with diaper-removing babies?

Blaise toddled past me, as he often does, and I noticed him out of the corner of my eye.

It took a few seconds… and then my head whipped around. Because the kid was not wearing a diaper.

We are not particularly uptight about cleanliness in our household, but we have to draw the line somewhere, and in the past we have always drawn it in a place that results in our non-potty-trained children wearing... READ MORE

Juicy Bites From Shabby Apple

and a giveaway too!

Oh my goodness! Just when I thought I couldn’t love Shabby Apple any more they’ve gone and proved me wrong once again. They’ve designed a line of aprons! Oh, yes they have! (You remember what a sucker I am for aprons, don’t you?)

Not only have they created some of the cutest aprons my eyes have ever beheld, but they named their line Boysenberry Pie! How adorable is that? They’ve assured us that their... READ MORE
