Oh I am so thrilled to see this featured on F&F! My husband was a member of the FOCUS team at UNC for the last three years (now working at Wyoming Catholic College) and it is so exciting to see the students we know and love being featured for their good work in the pro-life movement!
Shoelessly Pro-Life

Taking off your shoes for the pro-life cause?
It seems strange, but it’s exactly what students at the University of Northern Colorado are doing this week, as they hold their second annual BEARfoot for Babies event. (You can read more about the event at their website.)
According to the article, the students go barefoot to show solidarity for the unborn and also as a way of starting conversations about abortion. This seems brilliant to me.
It’s a way of doing penance, for one thing; I’m sure it can’t be easy to go around campus shoe-less for a week! And as a conversation-starter, I can hardly think of a gentler tactic. Unlike with pictures or t-shirts, it’s hard to imagine who would be offended by bare feet.
Also, acknowledging that unborn babies have (tiny, bare) feet helps draw attention to their humanity. That seems like it would be a good way to begin a conversation about abortion.
I wish I could’ve had a chance to participate in something like this when I was in college!

In European countries and America etc walking shoeless is real humility and sacrifice. Praise the students who undertake this sacrifice. In Kerala India, the people go into the church without any footware as a respect for the holiness of the church and Altar.
