Hat Trick International

Founded in 1986, by Managing Director Jimmy Mulville, Hat Trick is one of the UK's most successful independent production companies. The London-based company has a wide-ranging output of programming, including light entertainment, comedy and drama and has recently moved into the factual entertainment arena with a 30 hour commission from ITV1.

We work with the best writers and producers, who in turn attract the best on-screen talent. Our programmes have been nominated for every major award in the industry and the company has won more awards for its comedy and entertainment output than any other producer in the history of British broadcasting, except for the BBC.

As well as its core business, Hat Trick has also invested in new, talent led Indies including factual entertainment and documentary producer Plum Pictures, which was formed in autumn 2007 by Stuart Cabb and Will Daws; and Toff Media Ltd, which was founded in 2008 by comedians Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller.

Hat Trick is enjoying ever-increasing levels of success overseas. Our catalogue boasts over 200 hours of programming plus 40 formats which can be seen by viewers across all five continents. International hits include formats such as If I Ruled the World which has been running on TV4 in Sweden for over 12 years and Have I Got News For You which has been remade successfully in 12 territories worldwide never having not been recommissioned. The hilarious comedy Worst Week of My Life has sold into 121 countries and been remade in France, Germany, Italy and the USA and our new hit BBC1 comedy drama Outnumbered has sold into 84 territories and is still going strong.

An exciting new show for 2011 is Episodes, a prime time comedy series for BBC2 and Showtime, US, from the highly acclaimed writing partnership of David Crane (Friends) and Jeffrey Klarik (Mad About You) and starring Matt LeBlanc (Friends) playing a larger than life version of himself.
