Hat Trick - A Brief History...

Hat Trick Productions was founded in 1986 by Jimmy Mulville, Denise O'Donoghue and Rory McGrath in cramped offices in Soho to produce their first commission, 'Chelmsford 1,2,3' for Channel 4. McGrath and Donoghue have, in the intervening 20 years, since left the company and as of last year the company have moved to not so cramped, in fact, positively roomy offices in Camden, overlooking the canal and green and leafy Primrose Hill.

Hat Trick is one of the UK's most successful independent production companies, their output immediately identified with popular and award-winning programming, light entertainment and drama, and now also emerging into digital media.

Programmes have been nominated for every major award in the industry and the company has won more awards for its comedy and entertainment output than any other producer in the history of British broadcasting, except for the BBC.

Working with the best writers and producers, who in turn attract the best on-screen talent, Hat Trick remains at the forefront of the creation of new television. Some of the brightest names in British television began their careers and continue to build them under the Hat Trick brand.
