Microsoft has told CVG that it is on the prowl for classic, Xbox 360-exclusive first-person shooters - in the wake of Bungie completing development on Halo Reach.
With Reach likely to be Bungie's last ever Halo release, 360-exclusive FPS titles are thin on the ground - as Sony readies Killzone 3 for release in February next year on PS3.
But Microsoft - which still owns the rights to the Halo franchise - has told CVG that 360 fans needn't worry.
"We'll be looking to have lots of FPS games, ideally exclusive to us [in future]," Microsoft UK boss Neil Thompson told us.
"I'm not going to make any announcements about any FPS games we have in the pipeline right now - because that will lose me my job - but yes, first-person shooters are a great genre of product that have served us very well and will continue to serve us well in the future. We will be bringing great products out... that's the one thing I can commit to."
And it's not just shooters, either; Thompson added that "whether people like racing, dancing, FPS, strategy... whatever they like we'll be bringing out franchises that we think they'll love".

along with JRPG's and Sports games FPS' are my least favourite genre of games. They bore the pants off me. The Last Guardian cannot come soon enough to hold back the onslaught of even more FPS'
would rather they concentrate on JRPGs,i don't think you can ever have too many of them.....wish they would tap up Mistwalker again,i loved Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey..and would love the Last Story to come to the 360
FPS' are all well and good but I think the future is in action RPGs like Mass Effect 2 and sandbox games, a balance of action, good story telling and freedom are the future.....just look at RDR.
I would like another FPS but with some real intelligence in it, rather than pap such as COD.
I'm really hoping that Crisys 2 will be as amazing as EA have said. Looking forward to Reach (where's my copy, damn you Gametail!) but I know that it isn't going to truly grab me like say Half Life 2 or Deus Ex have in the past.
