Sega has released a few new screenshots for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 for you and me.
The shots show off Sonic doing what he does best: running on a 2D plane from one side of the screen to another at breakneck speed.
The screens exhibit lush, detailed environments and even hint at a possible new gameplay mechanic in Sonic 4. The blue blur can be seen holding a torch in a dark environment, suggesting platforming in Episode 1 may require a little more planning than usual.
Sega is also working on Sonic Colours, a new Wii title, however lead designer Takashi Iizuka, has said Colours is 'not for core gamers'.
I'm in two minds as to whether I buy these episodes as and when they are released on XBLA, or hold out and buy the inevitable full retail release.
I was going to challenge you on the likelihood of a compilation of XBLA titles getting a retail release, but then I remembered this is Sega we're dealing with. I'm sure they'll be released many times, on current as well as future systems.
Seeing as Sonic can do ANYTHING, he's probably dashing about like a loon while holding the torch. Could make for some interesting blurry, dashy fire effects. Looking forward to the game, anyway.
