UK retailers have delivered Halo Reach into the hands of gamers three days before the game's official release date.
CVG forumites have informed us that they have received paid-for retail copies of the game from online entertainment sites The Hut, Zavvi and GameGears this morning.
The news comes after online claims from gamers that isolated supermarkets and indie game retailers had already begun selling Reach on the High Street.
With the street date broken, other entertainment retailers are now likely to also begin selling Reach early - in order to ensure they don't miss out on pre-release revenues.
One CVG reader (Ricflair) has cemented legendary status by sending us a pic of his copy - which came through the post from The Hut earlier today. Other CVG readers, including Crispylog, have sent in evidence of receipts from Zavvi and GameGears.
From what I've gathered the "purists" will probably wait until the official release date to open theirs even if they get theirs today And I say that because a few people I know flamed me for being lucky enough to play it a bit earlier than them. Jealousy is an ill-gotten sin
With Bungie resetting everything on Tuesday there's not too much point playing yet. Still if it's on the shelves at least you know you can grab a copy before the rush (assuming you didn't pre-order)
I don't think bungie will bother with people getting it a couple of days early. They might say have reset it on friday or something for those people who've had it for weeks.
Either way I don't mind, I'm going for the midnight launch anyway to pick up my new console :D:D
Why do they have these s**tty review embargos until a few days before launch date? I mean surely they would want people to know well in advance if their games is decent or not. I played a bit of halo 3 and didn't really like it so i'm wondering if Reach is for me.
When I loaded up the game a message popped up saying the credit system is turned off and matchmaking isn't fully operational and they hope us early birds can help them iron out any problems before the kick off on the 14th when everything goes live.
Heads up! the full might of Halo: Reach won't be unleashed until 09/14. Until then thanks for helping us iron out a few lingering wrinkles while you test drive elements of the final experience. for now, Matchmaking, Credit acquisition and Daily Challenges aren't fully operational.
But the brand new Bungie.net is already up to speed! Upload your Screenshots, Saved Films, Game Variants and Forge Maps using the File Browser and check out your upgraded Service Record for career stats and postgame reports.
Wonder what it means about credits then if they've already been reset? Tried a bit of multiplayer but with 3,000 people online and only 7 players on the team objective playlist there isn't much point at the moment!
Yep in game stuff has been reset although I found a few things I've been allowed to keep and I got a nice message thanking me for helping gather more data prior to the full launch. That was nice of them. Time for my first taste of matchmaking.
How do I go about getting a shop into trouble? A local independent games store (which I used to buy from) is refusing my custom, they won't let me get the game early from them.
I wanna show these ******* that you don't mess with me.
The fervour and hype that surrounds a Halo game never fails to amuse me. And by amuse I mean baffle. Probably because I am not a huge FPS fan, but still. Enjoy the game though Halo fans.
my game got dispatched a while ago from argos, if it arrives early i will do some forging on another account, i want to have my first campaign game with my friends.
My Legendary edition has just been posted today, so all going well it will be here by tuesday, i won't be in so i will have to go the post office on wednesday to collect it, but still, it's been posted...............
i told the manager at my local game a lil fib by telling him that tescos are selling early so he told me to come back in tomorow and they might release it early ... fingers crossed
I hope the Hut group release other games early then, i.e. the specific ones I have pre-ordered
I reckon as everyone knows Reach will sell s**tloads, one retailer jumps the gun to try and get some extra sales from the desperate people wanting to play it, then all the other retailers scramble to do the same.
