From the grandeur of their magnificent cathedrals to the darkness of hidden dungeons, they reveal the traces of the Normans in our modern world.
Guides are available to print, including a map, details on the various points of interest and useful information - or you can download audio information to your mp3 player.
Adventure trails are available for families - follow the clues and solve the Mystery of the Golden Shield. Trails are available in Lewes, York, Castle Acre and Pembroke.
The Hands on History walks are taking place in the following locations: Berkshire, Cumbria, Essex, Gloucester, Hereford, Jersey, Kent, Lewes Castle and Priory, Lincoln, Castle Acre in Norfolk, Pembrokeshire, Shrewsbury, Wiltshire and York.

You can also go on your own Norman adventure at one of the many Hands on History events, or by visiting one of the Norman castles or churches around the country. Use the map on the right to find a day out near where you are.
