Tunisia prepare for World Basketball Championship
2010-08-20 The Tunisian national basketball team leave for Turkey on Friday (August 20th) to prepare for their first-ever appearance at the World Basketball Championship, Tunisia Online reported. Several friendlies against Turkish sides are planned during a one-week training camp before the Championship begins on August 28th. Following the world event, Tunisia will participate in the Arab Cup of Nations, scheduled for September 14th-25th in Lebanon.
Marrakech to host new international golf event
2010-08-20 The first Morocco Golf Festival will be held August 28th-September 12th in Marrakech, MAP reported on Thursday (August 19th). Some 120 international golfers are expected to attend the event. Morocco will host other golf competitions next year in Marrakech and Tangier.
Morocco, Tunisia plan U-21 friendly
2010-08-19 Morocco will host Tunisia for a U-21 friendly, MAP reported on Wednesday (August 18th). The September 8th match is part of preparations for the 2012 Olympic qualifiers, Morocco play their first qualifier next March against Mozambique.
Injured Chikhaoui receives visit from Zurich chief
2010-08-19 FC Zurich president Ancillo Canepa visited Yassine Chikhaoui in Tunisia, Goal.com reported on Wednesday (August 18th). The Tunisian international and Zurich midfielder fractured a tibia during the Carthage Eagles' CAN qualifier win against Chad. He is expected to be sidelined for at least four months.
For their next CAN qualifier, the Carthage Eagles host Malawi on September 4th. Tunisia are second in Group K.
ES Setif sack coach
2010-08-18 In the wake of ES Setif's Champions League loss to Dynamos FC last week-end, ESS president Abdelhakim Serrar terminated the contract of coach Nouredine Zekri, Liberté reported on Wednesday (August 18th). One possible replacement is ESS physical trainer Gianni Solinas, El Moudjahid quoted a club source as saying.
Botola begins next week-end
2010-08-18 Morocco's 2010-2011 football championships begin Friday (August 20th), Mountakhab.net reported. FAR Rabat will host newly-promoted Jeunesse Kasbat Tadla (JSKT). In other season openers, MAS play KACM on Saturday and MAT face WAC on Sunday.
Morocco, Saudi Arabia plan U-20 friendlies
2010-08-18 Morocco's U-20 team will play two friendlies next weekend in Saudi Arabia, Maroc Football reported on Tuesday (August 17th). Morocco were recently ousted from the 2011 Junior CAN qualifiers following a loss and a draw against Senegal. The players are currently attending a training camp in Maamora.
