Maghreb U-17 sides begin CAN qualifiers

Tunisia joins 'Blue Flag' eco-label programme
2010-08-25 Tunisia became the third African country, after South Africa and Morocco, to join the "Blue Flag" programme, TAP reported on Tuesday (August 24th). The Blue Flag is an eco-label awarded to beaches and marinas all over the world for environmental information, safety equipment, services, environmental management and water quality. The decision to join the programme stems from Tunisia's environmental ministry efforts to preserve the coastline and improve quality standards of Tunisian beaches.
Morocco, Spain strengthen security partnership
2010-08-24 Moroccan Interior Minister Taieb Cherkaoui and his Spanish counterpart met Monday (August 23rd) in Rabat to discuss co-operation in the fight against terrorism, illegal immigration, organised crime and drug trafficking. Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba's visit aimed at easing recent tensions between Spanish border police and Moroccans at the enclaves of Melilla and Ceuta. Morocco and Spain also plan to open joint police stations in Tangier and Algeciras, Reuters noted.
Algeria lifts foreign NGO ban
2010-08-24 Algeria on Tuesday (August 24th) told 15 human rights NGOs in France, US, Canada and Morocco that they are free to inspect prisons and other institutions, Kuna reported. "All international organisations are welcome to inspect the human rights situation," Algeria's National Advisory Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (CNCPPDH) chief Farouk Ksentini said in a press release. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, banned since 2005, are among the non-governmental organisations affected by the policy change.
