Rosanna Arquette to topline 'Signs of Living'Production on $2 mil Canadian indie film set for spring 2011
Sept 1, 2010, 02:59 PM ET The news comes two years after veteran TV producer Breakthrough launched a movie production arm, with former PolyGram Filmed Entertainment and Norstar Filmed Entertainment executive Marina Cordoni in charge as executive producer. In "The Signs of Living," Arquette is to play an inspirational TV show host and girlfriend of an aging rock star who's hit emotional rock bottom. Production on the $2 million feature, based on a script by Divana Ippoliti, is set for spring 2011. No word on additional casting. Cordoni will shop the Arquette-starring drama at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival with an eye to securing U.S. and European presales. Breakthrough and Cordini last year produced two Canadian films, the mockumentary "Confessions of a Porn Addict," starring Spencer Rice ("Kenny vs. Spenny"), and Penelope Buitenhuis' "A Wake," which screened at Cannes. Cordoni has two additional feature projects from Breakthrough to be unveiled at AFM: a family film and a genre picture, "Dead Sleep," about a group of college students that investigates a series of mysterious suicides at an abandoned resort. The launch of Breakthrough's movie division in 2008 marked a transition from TV, where the indie producer has built a strong portfolio of dramas, comedies and animation product.
