Be it television or the big screen, if it is the role of Sai Baba, it has to be Sudhir Dalvi.

HE GOT his first chance to play Sai Baba in a Manoj Kumar film based on Shirdi Sai Baba way back in 1977, and he had a reason for accepting. "I was pushed by my wife to play the role and she assured me, `You will get name and fame after this,' and I believe it worked," reminisces Sudhir Dalvi.
Having played a similar role in Vikas Kumar's movie on the same subject in 2000, Sudhir reveals, "When I played the role in 1977, the movie did not do well because many people did not know about the saint but again in 2000, the movie did well as the holy place Shirdi was known to almost everyone in the world by then."
For him, the message of Sai embodies the eternal truth in the simplest possible terms. Just like the glow of the sun cannot be contained, nor the waters of the oceans dried up, the eternal truth shall always be open to those who seek, he says.
Based on "true stories," the serial has completed seven episodes on Zee TV where actor Gajendra Chauhan has done the opening role of Brijesh. Gajendra explains his character, "I am playing the role of a father whose family is a true believer in Sai, but his son blindly believes in the saint and does not work hard in his exams as he has a delusion that Sai will come and help him, but then his father motivates him and tells him that Baba will help those who help themselves and there, Sudhir comes into the picture."
Episodic series
Once again, he is back featuring in 104 episodes of Shirdi Sai Baba, an episodic serial on the miracles of the saint aired on Sunday at 9 a.m. with repeat telecast on Thursday at 7 p.m. Sudhir who is a true believer in Sai Baba, says, "We want that the message of Baba should reach everyone through this serial and people should try to bring into practice in real life, his teachings to be a good human being."
Besides, Sudhir is doing a play called "Sabse Bada Rupiyaa" with nine actors of the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi crew and informs that the play has also been done in Gujarati and was "a great hit."
He says he believes in the present as his son says, "The past you know, the present you are going through, then why to worry about the future? Let it happen, and leave it on the note of Allah Malik!"
