Noted hair stylist from the twin cities Sachin Dakoji is Paris-bound for International Haute Coiffure Francais

RETURN OF Mega Hair screams the latest cover of Elle. "Long hair is back," explains Sachin Dakoji.
This hair stylist from the twin cities always looked beyond cut-that-hair-to-learn-that technique, working with international hair stylists on complicated cuts and hair colouring methods. All the while, some of his high profile clients — film stars, models el al, regulars at his salon Cutting Edge, found his work outlandish. Others cried attitude. But adulations that are coming his way now prove his mettle and he is deservingly going places.
Sachin leaves for Paris to attend the Autumn Winter 2004-05 International Haute Coiffure Francais, the `mother of hair shows' to be held in the mecca of fashion, in September. Not only will he be working backstage with Parisian stylist Laurent De Creton, a sought after hair stylist who will be displaying his collection at the show, but he will be staying back at Rue Royale to master colour, cuts and styling techniques at the L'Oreal head quarters. "I am dazed. There is so much to do. It would be a valuable work experience," says an elated Sachin.
On his return
And there is more in store for him. On his return he will be part of the mega hair show with Laurent De Creton to be held in October here, a haute affair where Sachin would be showcasing his Indian interpretations of global trends. "A style is an artist's vision. How you, as a hair stylist, adapt it commercially is a challenge. India is not lagging behind in fashion today. Earlier trends were given and we simply copied them. Today we release our own Autumn Winter 2004-05 simultaneously with Milan, Paris, London, New York or Tokyo," he says.
Incidentally, Sachin is one of the L'Oreal Creative Hair Forum team member that will be creating trends for the Indian Autumn-Winter 2004-05, to be unveiled as part of the mega hair show. "The new palette is not bizarre but on the contrary one will find that the colours are perfectly adapted to Indian skin tones," is what he says about the look for the forthcoming season. And for the long term, he looks at presenting his solo work on the international ramp. After working on the most beautiful faces in the country, it would not come as a surprise, for one. Way to go Sachin.
