Bollywood calling

The 20-year-old Yukta Mookhey was crowned `Miss World-1999' at a glittering ceremony at the Olympia theatre in London.

She won a dazzling tiara, a year of travel around the world, a lot of gifts and prize money worth $100,000.

Yukta graced the ramps and modelled for cosmetic brands such as Avon and L'Oreal. Later, she joined Namit Kishore's acting school and has chosen to follow in the footsteps of her predecessors, Aishwarya Rai and Diana Hayden.

This svelte, 5-feet-11-inch beauty stepped into Bollywood about two years ago. A graduate in Zoology from Kelkar College, Mumbai, Yukta made her debut with A. Muthu's film, `Pyaasa'. She was paired with model-turned-actor Zulfi Sayed and Aftab Shivdasani. `Pyaasa', sank without a trace at the box-office.

Yukta said she wanted to pursue a career in Mass Communications and Computer Graphics, but she found her calling in Bollywood. "Everything depends on your talent... all we need is to have confidence in ourselves to do our job well. Success will follow," said Yukta.
