Another Sierra Leonean who belonged to the alumni of the 1970s Fourah Bay College has died. He is Dr. Alfred Fawundu .This brings to three the number of former FBC students of that generation who h passed away in recent weeks. The others were Patrick Bundu and Daphne Johnson (Nee Taylor ). Dr. Fawundu died early yesterday , Sunday August 15.
Fawundu was a member of the FBC Students’ Union Government of 1972. He graduated between 1973-74. Recently , Dr.Fawundu declared his intention to contest the 2012 Presidential elections in Sierra Leone as a flagbearer of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party ( SLPP ).
Dr,Fawundu had a distinguished career with the UN. He was the UN Coordinator and UNDP West Africa Country Representative . Mr. Fawundu served more more than 32 years in more than 18 countries represeting UN and UNDP in Africa . He has been a long-time close friend of former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan
He was until his death Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Anti Corruption Commission .
