Pedestrians and bikes can share city spaces like Parc Lafontaine as long as cyclists watch their speed. The Plateau Mont-Royal borough has announced plans to move the bike path on the west side of Parc Lafontaine out of the park. Borough Mayor Luc Ferrandez says the eventual plan is to extend the park to take over at least one lane of Parc La Fontaine Ave., which will become a car-free "bike boulevard."

Attention, Montreal cyclists, and anyone else who thinks the cycling revolution happening on the streets of Montreal is a good thing. There is a move afoot -a misguided one, I believe -to kick cyclists out of city parks and other pleasant cycling environments.

Nathalie Smith demonstrates an exercise that incorporates a fitness ball. The device's novelty value can sometimes counteract its limitations.

Fitness: Debate on exercise balls keeps rolling on

For years, fitness professionals have been extolling the virtues of the fitness ball (also known as a Swiss ball). So strong has their belief in it been that they have modified traditional exercises, like squats, push ups and planks, to be performed on the ball.

You probably already know this, but you definitely don't want to be the victim of a stroke. Losing part of your brain function to bleeding or blocked circulation is a devastating event, to which millions around the world can attest on an annual basis.

Claude Pelletier, chef at Le Club Chasse et Peche: Even during the crush of service, he sticks to a management philosophy that is based on kindness, not criticism. One of his messages? Don't be so hard on yourself and others.

'Chef' is not a casual title

King pin. Head honcho. Top dog. You can picture the kind of person I'm talking about. A chef is all those things. Chef is a precise word: it connotes responsibility and experience, and there is only one chef in a professional kitchen.
