Create a player by choosing his appearance, accessories and attributes and then create an original team with a distinctive crest and kits, complete with home stadium.

EA Sports is using the NBA Draft to showcase its newest basketball game. Electronic Arts has signed Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Kevin Durant as the cover athlete for NBA ELITE 11. A 2010 NBA All-Star, Durant became the youngest player in NBA history to lead the league in scoring this past season, and he helped lead the Thunder to an impressive 50 win season and an NBA Playoffs berth. NBA ELITE 11 is currently in development under the EA SPORTS brand by EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C. and will be available worldwide this October.

After winning the Stanley Cup with Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane, Electronic Arts is sticking with the Hawks for NHL 11. EA Sports has signed 22-year-old Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews as the cover athlete for its upcoming game. With last year’s title featuring Chicago Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane, NHL 11 marks the first time that EA Sports has put back to back players from the same team on the cover of the NHL franchise. Jonathan Toews’ image will be on the front of all packaging when NHL 11 is available in North American retail stores this September. Unlike Kane, Toews is Canadian and will appeal to that country’s passionate hockey fans.

With competition about to start in South Africa, EA Sports has already picked the winner. And the FIFA World Cup Trophy goes to … Spain! Electronic Arts declared the winner of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. Using the market-leading EA Sports soccer engine that drives 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, EA was able to simulate the 2010 FIFA World Cup and test all 32 teams under the same conditions they will face in the weeks ahead. It was determined that Spain will defeat Brazil 3-1 at Soccer City on July 11 to win its first World Cup.

To help promote his new game, Tiger Woods tried out Canada’s other sport, curling. It’s part of a new marketing campaign for the June 8th release of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 11. EA Sports released a new commercial and the first in a series of online videos that highlight two key enhancements to this year’s game – the Ryder Cup and team golf. The creative extensions feature various golf professionals including Tiger Woods (U.S.), Rickie Fowler (U.S.), Ian Poulter (England) and Edoardo Molinari (Italy).

With the Lakers vs. Celtics match-up a reality – and also the name of one of EA Sports early basketball videogames, Electronic Arts has changed the name of its NBA game franchise. NBA ELITE will be the new moniker of the long running NBA videogame franchise.  NBA ELITE 11 will revolutionize the way basketball simulation games are played, with an all-new technology base, a new control scheme and a real-time physics system. Currently in development for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, NBA ELITE 11 will be available in retail stores this October. The game will be shown at E3 2010.

With the Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks battling for the Stanley Cup, EA Sports is looking ahead to next season. Electronic Arts will finally challenge 2K Sports in hockey on Nintendo Wii. The same year that 2K Sports is taking a break from its PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 NHL 2K11 game, EA Sports is introducing NHL Slapshot exclusive for Wii (NHL 11 will ship for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3). EA Sports used NHL 10 – the game Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is on the cover of – to predict that the Hawks would hoist the Stanley Cup this year after defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in seven games. EA got the wrong Pennsylvania team, as the Philadelphia Flyers are poised to play the Blackhawks for the coveted Stanley Cup. But Kane has delivered so far, building on the momentum he showed as a member of Team USA during the 2010 Winter Olympics earlier this year. The Blackhawks are Western Conference Champions.
